Freedom Steps Equine Services

A service at Fuzzy Faces Refuge helping to make lives better one step at a time

Welcome!  Freedom Steps Equine Services is a service provided at Fuzzy Faces Refuge offering the following programs to children and adults with special physical, emotional or mental challenges:

  • Therapeutic (adaptive) horseback riding
  • Ground-based horsemanship lessons
  • Veterans/First-Responders program, “Freedom Fridays”
  • Equine-Facilitated Psychotherapy through Animal-Assisted Therapy of the Triangle (appointments must be scheduled through AATT)  www.animalassistedtherapyofthetriangle

We are a member center of PATH Int’l and all lessons are conducted by a veteran  PATH Int’l CTRI (Certified Riding Instructor) with more than 15 years of experience.

Our facility is open year-round (weather permitting) with most major holidays observed. 

Participants are provided:

  • Beautiful farm setting nestled on 70+ serene acres     
  • Specially-trained volunteers for side-walking and leading the horse (if needed)
  • Large outdoor arena and other riding areas
  • Spacious bathroom with wheelchair access       
  • Viewing areas for family and friends
  • Professional, caring environment
  • Sensory trail opening in Spring 2020

Lessons are organized into session blocks of six weeks (Monday-Thursday) with a regular day/time assigned weekly to each client.  Private (when possible) and semi-private (2-3 max.) are available.  Interested and want to know the next step?
